Our Office Will....

  • Fill your spectacle prescription accurately and quickly. Many prescriptions can be completed within one day. On-site lens edging availiable.

  • Provide only excellent quality frames and lenses.

  • Include a two-year warranty against breakage on all frames and lenses at no extra charge. (except for discontinued frames).

  • Match prices with our retail competitors. As members of Canada's largest optometric buying group we can provide you with very competive pricing. We encourage you to shop around and compare. If we are not already lower priced, we will match a written quote for the same item.

  • Obtain the same frame you see displayed somewhere else, often at a lower price. We have access to all of the different frame suppliers.

  • Give you exceptional service. Frame adjustments and minor repairs are provided at no charge.

  • Provide a 30-day price guarantee. If you find the same item at a lower price elsewhere, we will refund the difference.
  • At South Island Optometry Centres, our patients enjoy the latest technology in lens designs and offer the newest custom design progressive lenses on the market. There's a frame for everyone with our wide selection of brand name frames including Silhouette, Armani, Alfred Sung, Flexon, Venus, Spectacle Eye Works, Tom Hilfiger and Easy Clips. We stock designer sunglasses such as Maui Jim, Oakley, Carrera, Silhouette and Serengeti. Custom order service is available. Eyewear accessories, cleaning solutions, kits, sports and safety glasses are also available.

Comfort and vision with newly prescribed eyeglasses depends on a proper frame, quality lenses that have been accurately ground, and expert fitting by a skilled optical dispenser. In selecting a dispenser, you may be tempted by ads of bargain glasses and quick ("1-hour") service. Keep in mind that it takes time to fit and grind glasses properly, and the dispenser having the largest ad budget may not be the best when it comes to training and skill. One of our skilled optical dispensers will help you choose a style and size that is right for you!

Plastic lenses are lighter than glass, which makes a big difference in the higher-powered prescriptions. They - especially polycarbonate lenses - are much safer to wear than hardened glass lenses. Although plastic can be scratched more easily than glass, proper care and lenses coatings can prolong the lenses' life and usefulness. Ask the dispenser how to take care of them. Plastic lenses can be dyed solid colors or with a graduated tint, darker at the top, lighter toward the bottom.

South Island Optometry Centres is proud to offer a large selection of progressive lenses. Here is a brief list of some of the many lenses and their benefits to the patient:
